Relationship Help for Women: Stop Overfunctioning and Start Getting the Love You Want
by minette prada - Monday, 16 June 2008, 01:19 AM
Anyone in the world
By Rori Gwynne The first four years of my now glorious 18-year marriage followed the same, not glorious, hugely painful pattern all my other relationships had. All the passion turned to tension and all the fun turned to bickering and then he withdrew. He went cold and got angry. Suddenly, I realized I didnt feel all that warmly towards him either. He thought I was being controlling, and I thought he wasnt cutting it. We were both right. Overfunctioning is doing too much. It's doing more than your share, stepping in to help, stepping up to rescue. It's offering before being asked, giving instead of giving back. It's trying to manage your life and get things done by playing all the parts in the relationship -- both your part and his. Overfunctioning is a deeply unsatisfying thing. Trying to play your man's part in the relationship as well as yours (like I did) creates tension and conflict -- and even if you could succeed at it, you wouldnt like the results. If you turn your man into a puppet you can manipulate, youre not going to like him very much. Youll have clean dishes and no garbage, and a Saturday night date at the restaurant and movie of your choice, but look -- your man will be a puppet! Not much fun there. So -- do you deserve a red-blooded, real, strong minded, secure, responsible, respectable, thoughtful, and caring man? Or do you only deserve a shadow of yourself? Can you allow yourself to be loved by a man who can really love? Or can you only sign up with a man who makes it one-third the way to you and then expects you to pick up the slack? By always picking up the slack -- and I know it always seems like what needs doing is urgent and important -- what you get by doing it all yourself is mostly your own feeling of resentment. You dont get the appreciation we all crave -- you get coldness, anger, and withdrawal. It seems so unfair to put ourselves out, to be helpful, and then get what feels like a slap in the face. And yet, what were really getting is the safe place (unpleasant as it is) of avoiding finding out what our men are really made of. By always cutting to the chase and doing everything ourselves - or directing how its done - we put up a wall between ourselves and our men that keeps us from getting what we all say we really want: The Big Ticket Items - Love, Affection, Romance, Trust, Harmony, Peace, the ability to Negotiate anything. (And I mean anything.) By always stepping in, we guarantee that our lives with our men will always be about the small stuff - the nuts and bolts of life, and not the deep, soul-satisfying stuff that we come together in relationships and marriage to get. If what we want is soul connection, we have to stop Overfunctioning. Since childhood, we've been labeled, taught, tricked, bribed and prodded, been threatened by all forms of authority, told what's true and what isn't, and disrespected for everything from our feelings to our thoughts. Our relationships have been more about pleasing others than pleasing ourselves. More about struggling and using our wits to get what we need and what we think we want than discovering what it is we really want. Many of us dont even really believe we deserve a great relationship. Well, we do. We all do. And we dont need to do anything to deserve it. We just deserve it. No earning required. If we can stop doing so much and stop resenting doing so much, our relationship will get better instead of falling apart. Try it. What if you really didnt have to watch how things are going, didnt have to ask for everything you want, stopped overseeing the doing of things that are important to you even though youve already agreed that its his job, and could just relax and be? Its a little scary. Each of us has learned ways to keep pain away. And those things we do and say that help keep pain away also shut out love. As soon as we stop doing those things, and love comes in, sometimes we begin to feel things weve been avoiding feeling for a very long time. For some of us, feeling loved is mixed up with feeling pain. We feel scared to be vulnerable. Sometimes it takes a while to begin to trust ourselves and our boundaries enough to really allow ourselves to be vulnerable - and enjoy both being vulnerable and experiencing the miraculous effect our vulnerability has on our men. So take it slow. Baby steps is the way to go. Make a list of all the things you do in the household, on a date, and in a relationship, and pick three things that seem easy to let go of. And then stop doing them. Just stop. It might get a little messy. At first he may get a bit bent out of shape that youre not on him, at him, throwing love and attention at him or doing for him all the time - but secretly, hell start feeling seriously better about your relationship. And youll feel seriously better, too, when he starts giving you (without youre even asking) what you really want - attention, affection, sweetness, the doing of household chores. Remember, its about the Big Ticket items. Affection. Great sex. Harmony. Being able to negotiate. Fun. Peace. Trust. Emotional safety. Keep your eye on the prize: Stop giving all your energy to managing your man and everything in your daily lives, and start using it to love yourself first. Promotional Umbrellas - Quality Counts
by minette prada - Thursday, 12 June 2008, 04:12 AM
Anyone in the world
By Gareth Parkin If youve decided to use promotional umbrellas to publicize your company, youll want to opt for the highest quality that your budget can stand. When it comes to a promotional item that will get the use and give your company the exposure that you get with promotional umbrellas, you dont want to skimp by handing out a poor quality product. Opting for a cheap promotional umbrella can actually cost your business more in the long run, and it certainly wont give you all the benefits you get from choosing a better quality product in the first place. These days, when corporate gift-giving is such a common practice, business men have become far more discerning than they used to be. Cheap plastic pens have been replaced by stylish, sleek metal ones, and printed key rings by embossed leather fobs. Why reverse the process when your chosen marketing gift is a promotional umbrella? If anything, the quality of your gift becomes even more important. Keep in mind that the quality of your promotional items reflects on your company. What does it say about your attitude toward business if the gifts you give to your valued partners and associates break after a short use? Imagine a photograph of one of your promotional umbrellas turned inside out in the dustbin? Certainly not the message that you want them to get, is it? Thats why its important to look for quality workmanship in the promotional umbrellas that you choose as a marketing message. A quality promotional umbrella that lasts for years does more than look good for your company image, though. It also continues to represent and publicize your company for as long as it is in use. Keep in mind that the added expense of buying a better quality umbrella pays off in years more return on the investment. With that said, what should you look for in a quality umbrella? The Frame A good quality umbrella will be built on a strong, high quality frame. Aluminum is common, but fiberglass frames are becoming far more popular thanks to the strength and flexibility of the material. Vented Construction Vented canopies make umbrellas far less prone to being turned inside out by the wind. If youll be distributing your promotional umbrellas in an area where the wind can blow up suddenly and strong, consider opting for a golf umbrella with a vented canopy. Ease of Use Nothing is more frustrating than struggling to open or close your brolly in a rainstorm. If you can, find a sample of the umbrellas that youre considering so that you can try them out. If not, ask your account representative to make a recommendation. A representative of a promotional items company should be familiar with the quality of the products that the company sells. Promotional umbrellas make excellent corporate promotional gifts. Across the internet youll find a variety of leading promotional gifts and items suppliers featuring a wide range of all types of promotional umbrellas, including screen-printed umbrellas and specialty dyed promotional umbrellas. Gareth Parkin is the co-founder of Ideasbynet.com, the UK's leading online promotional umbrellas and printed umbrellas supplier based in the north of England. Ideasbynet was established in 2001 and together with the Chairman Peter Howarth he has taken the UK promotional gift market by storm. The UK Consumer's Guide to Shopping for Mortgages Online
by minette prada - Saturday, 7 June 2008, 09:48 PM
Anyone in the world
By Mary Simone Starting with the absolute basics, a mortgage is a loan for a house or other piece of property, financed by a bank or other financial institution. If loan is taken out against a property that already has a mortgage on it, its referred to as second charges, with the first loan considered to be the first charges. These types of loans are secured, for if the property owner should fail to make the proper payments to the bank on a timely basis, the financial owners (the bank) will take the property as compensation. While mortgages may indeed be a scary topic, one must remember that shopping for one shouldnt be. The Internet has made the globe a much smaller place, including the world of mortgages and other secured loans. Long gone are the days of having to carry personal paperwork from the last 5 years down to the local branch of your bank. For a few clicks of the mouse, a quick chat on the telephone, and maybe the hum of a fax machine once or twice can bring the mortgage industry directly into your home. First things first, the terms of the mortgage can vary greatly among lenders, no matter what your credit rating is or how much money you make in a year. The amount borrowed is repaid on a monthly basis for an amount of time arranged before the loan was signed. Most first and second charges will spread out payments for between 3 and 25 years. The APR, or Annual Percentage Rate, is the amount of money charged to the borrower from the lender for granting the loan. These rates will vary greatly, depending on the borrowers credit history, the loan amount, and the value of the property for which the loan is made. The higher the APR, the higher the monthly mortgage payment will be. Any mortgage, whether it has been generated over the Internet or not, is subject to certain laws. For example, the Consumer Credit Act of 1974 regulates all loans written for under $25,000. Before a regulated secured loan is written, everyone involved must sign a legally binding credit agreement. The lender must give the borrower a minimum of 7 days to rescind on the loan and escape any interest and/or fees. But the most important rule of thumb while shopping online for mortgages is that the world is at your fingertips, so settling for a mediocre program is simply unnecessary. The Internet makes is possible to get a dozen quotes for a mortgage in a small amount of time, especially when you utilize one of the sites dedicated to finding the best mortgage rates and terms for its customers. Mary Simone recommends that you visit http://www.onlyfinance.com for more information on mortgages. Breast Enhancement Creams
by minette prada - Tuesday, 3 June 2008, 04:14 PM
Anyone in the world
By Eric Morris Breast enhancement creams are often used with breast enhancement pills. They can enhance the effects of the pills or can be used independently to increase the size and firmness of the breasts. The makers of breast enhancement creams claim that these products tighten the apparent tones and contour of the breasts. They also improve the visible tone and texture of the skin. Cream makers also say that the creams improve the firm feel of the supporting skin of the breast and the skin from the breast to the chin, which is important for a proper shape. Breast enhancement creams are made of a number of ingredients. It is necessary to thoroughly research each and every ingredient before using such creams. Common ingredients are various acids like stearic acid and ascorbic acid, extracts of algae, chamomile, lavender, and sage. Oils like avocado and jojoba are used. Other ingredients are glycerin, octyl methoxycinnamate, metylparaben, propylparaben, and phenoxyethanol. Some other ingredients are sabal, damiana, blessed thistle, kava kava, dandelion root, and motherwort. Most breast enhancement creams have the same ingredients as the breast enhancement pills. The creams, however, dont have as great a concentration of the active ingredients as the pills. Many breast enhancement creams are designed to maintain the changes achieved through pills. Some users of breast enhancement creams achieve fuller breasts with firmer tissue, thereby helping them avoid surgical procedures for a breast enhancement. One of the most common side effects of these creams is soreness in the breasts that subsides after some time. Breast enhancement creams should be used for a period of 45 to 90 days for proper results. Breast Enhancement provides detailed information about breast enhancement, breast enhancement creams, breast enhancement pills, and more. Breast Enhancement is affiliated with Breast Enlargement Cream. Black Mormons: A Tragic Union of Race and Religion
by minette prada - Friday, 30 May 2008, 02:11 AM
Anyone in the world

By Timothy Stelly Sr Mormonism is a religion deeply rooted in racism and ignorance. But let them tell it, times have changed. The bottom line is, the book of Mormon has about as much religious credibility among mainstream blacks as a Beetle Bailey comic book. Furthermore, it is argued by one religious scholar in particular that much of the work is plagiarized from Shakespeare (Hamlet), Solomon Spauldings unpublished works and other sources. Furthermore, even the archaeology department at Brigham Young University has concurred that "The statement that the Book of Mormon has already been proved by archeology is misleading."

While the church originated as a Protestant splinter group, Mormons embraced the ideology espoused by several Protestant denominations that blacks descend from Cain and Ham. According to these beliefs, blacks exteriorize spirits that fought on God's side in a battle with Satan, but performed "less valiantly." This and the idea that blacks are descendants of Ham are, according to Mormon teachings, the actual words of God and was the basis for blacks being unable to become priests until 1978, more than 140 years after the advent of the LDS sect.

Why would any black person join this church? Since its inception the Mormon denomination has stated that blacks were inferior and cursed by God. The dark skin of blacks was symbolic of that curse. The man who became the second leader of the sect, Brigham Young, might as well have been called Grand Dragon after spewing this venom: "You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable, sad, low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be and the Lord put a mark on him, which is the flat nose and black skin. (Journal of Discourses, Volume 7, Pp. 290 291).

He also gave his followers this nugget of wisdom: "Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so." (Journal of Discourses, Volume 10, page 110). I guess that was his way of saying, When you go black, you never come back...

The Mormons even have their own brand of Niggah jokes. Mark E. Peterson during a 1954 speech declared, there was a negro who prayed: Oh Lawd, oh Lawd, oh Lawd; send dis heah niggah a turkey. He prayed for a whole week, and he didn't get any turkey, and at the end of a week he said: Dis heah niggah don' know how to pray. So that night the negro prayed, Oh Lawd, oh Lawd, oh Lawd, send dis heah niggah to a turkey, and he said, Dis heah niggah had turkey.

According to Mormon teachings, blacks were beget through Cain, who was a rebel and an associate of Lucifer in the preexistence, and though he was a liar from the beginning whose name was Perdition, Cain managed to attain the privilege of mortal birth....As a result of his rebellion, Cain was cursed with a dark skin. (Mormon Doctrine, pg. 109). This lineage was continued through Ham (which means black). He married Egyptus and was cursed for marrying into a forbidden lineage. (Mormon Doctrine, pg. 343). Once again we find that all-too-familiar theme, When you go black...
>br>
John Taylor, who was the third Prophet and President of the Mormon Church added, And why did it (Hams seed) pass through the flood? Because it was necessary that the devil should have a representation upon the earth as well as God. (Journal of Discourses, Volume 22, pg. 304).

Articulating a similar point of view is Bruce McConkie (of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Mormon Church), who wrote, "Those who were less valiant in the pre-existence and who thereby had certain spiritual restrictions imposed upon them during mortality are known to us as the negroes. Such spirits are sent to earth through the lineage of Cain, the mark put upon him for his rebellion against Cod and his murder of Abel being a black skin. The negroes are not equal with other races when the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow therefrom, but this inequality is not of man's origin. It is the Lord's doing (Mormon Doctrine, Pp. 527-28).

Darron Smith, author of Black and Mormon, contends African-American members of the church appear to be disproportionately dissatisfied. Though I can't find data about the exact numbers of lapsed black Mormons, based on newspaper coverage, I believe it is high. Anecdotes of racial abuses within the LDS are common. He further suggests that the dearth and high abandonment rate of black Mormons might be attributed to cultural differences, feelings of being treated categorically as black people instead of as individualswhite resistance to intermarriage or even interracial dating, and a level of white acceptance that was considered civil but not warm.

Smith, who is a black Mormon, believes If African-Americans who have actively participated in the black church become Mormon, they must abandon many of their traditional religious traditions and social practices and subscribe to a white style of worship or be considered transgressors of the church's cultural norms." He adds, (The LDS) refuses to acknowledge and undo its racist past, and until it does that, members like me continue to suffer psychological damage from it."

Smith, who also teaches a Mormon cultural studies class at Utah Valley State College, says black people likely to stay in the church are those who are ideologically white." (I must raise the question, why hasnt he left?)

Furthermore, there is still a sense of separation by black members, who have formed The Genesis Group. It is a group of black Mormons who get together for fellowship. There are such groups in most notably Salt Lake City, Utah; Oakland, California; and Washington, D.C.,

Early Latter-day Saints opposed slavery, but believed that blacks were mentally and morally inferior. However, during Joseph Smiths reign two black men, Elijah Abel and Walker Lewis, were ordained. Why these two negroes would accept such a position, one where they essentially displayed their self-hatred, is beyond me. Perhaps this is why they were chosen. Remember, even Smith promoted the idea that dark skin was a curse and that blacks were the descendants of Ham. (For the record, this was not a hypothesis exclusive to the LDS).

The official denial of priesthood for blacks did not come about until 1849. The edict read, It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord...to the effect that Negroes may become members of the Church but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time."

Blacks in the Mormon capitol of Utah and throughout Africa objected to the espousing of dual heavens, a later rapture for people with dark skin and other cartoonish ideology prevalent in the churches teachings. 78 years into the twentieth century the law against black priesthood was formally abolished. Historian Jan Shipps wrote, The June 9 revelation will never be fully understood if it is regarded simply as a pragmatic doctrinal shift ultimately designed to bring Latter-day Saints into congruence with mainstream America. Darius Gray, president of Genesis, said that the rescinding of the ban on black priesthood will "change the church from a small, parochial institution into an international church." Subsequently, the LDS gained about 180,000 black members, mainly in Africa.

A website defender of Mormonism going by the moniker Joel argues, the Church (has never) segregated its black members from the white...The Church has never actually condemned inter-racial marriage; but church leaders have in the past recommended that people marry within their own race, simply because of the cultural differences that can sometimes strain a relationship. but if that were true, why was there the need for blacks to form the Genesis Group?

Smith believes that There is distrust, I believe, among a lot of blacks about the LDS church. The church appears reluctant to open a dialogue on race. Smith reveals that his wife was discouraged in her efforts to address the issue of interracial marriage. When a white teacher attempted to do the same, she was ex-communicated "not following the manual."

A breeze of fresh air blew through the church (perhaps the scent of tithes wafted into the temple) and the church contradicted their so-called prophets and announced that certain blacks could now become priests and could even experience a rapture equivalent to that of their white members. Is this to say their prophets were wrong, or was there some divine edict from their blond and blue-eyed version of Jesus? One of these so-called prophet, Joseph Smith said, Had I anything to do with the negro , I would confine them by strict law to their own species... (History of the Church, Volume 5, Pp. 218-19).

The churchs position was that "God changed His attitude about blacks in the church because both the Church and the secular world were ready to accept the change." HUH? Since when does man dictate to God? That change probably has more to do with athletic protests by teams in the Western Athletic Conference who believed BYU has fewer black students and athletes due to institutional racism.

Twenty years later a band of negroes addressed the Mormon History Association and argued against Mormon leaders issuing an apology for the churchs racist doctrines. These individuals believed that such an apology would prove detrimental to the church and would cause deeper racial misunderstanding. Thomas Newkirk, Jr. countered that groups argument stating, What the brother read here is a detriment to my race and to my church. Being that their holy symbol is a seagull, blacks in this sect would be better off praying to Scrooge McDuck.

The Book of Mormon (the original LDS version, penned in 1830) reads like a work written by the Brothers Grimm. The first part of this tome explains how it is superior to the bible, which according to them has been altered, thereby cannot be the true word of God. Mormons teach that the word of their holy book is based on the teachings of Christ upon his arrival in the Americas, which was shortly after his resurrection. Prophets of a race who lived in the Americas for about 1,000 years recorded the book on golden plates. This race was exterminated in A.D. 421.

Joseph Smith said he found these plates in 1823 in New York. With the assistance of an angel and two friends, he was able to translate them. Michael Davis explains what Smith discovered: The ancient race was descended from two groups of Hebrews, the Nephites and the Lamanites, who traveled to the New World from Palestine around 600 B.C. and built a great civilization. Another people, the Jaredites, who had arrived in the Americas much earlier, exterminated the Nephites around A.D. 421. The Lamanites then became the principal ancestors of the American Indians. The indigenous people discovered by Columbus are cousins of that race, cursed with dark skin for having rejected God. But where is the evidence supporting the idea that such a Christian civilization existed?

Some of the lessons put forth are that: (1) Jesus second coming will be preceded by a massive conversion of the American Indians to Christ, who will then exterminate the gentiles that do not accept it; (2) God the Father has a body of flesh and bones, and was once a sinful man on another planet; (3) That Jesus Christ Is the brother of Lucifer, the Devil; (4) That men can become gods themselves by joining the Mormon church, and can create and populate their own worlds; (5) American indians are descendants of the Israeli tribes of Judah, Ephraim and Manasseh and that their skin curse is to be removed after being converted to Jesus Christ through the Book of Mormon (2 Nephi 30:6'versions before 1981; 12:84).4 (6) Indians and Mormons will build the New Jerusalem in Independence, Missouri, where Christ will return to live.

The church is to Christianity what chicken franks are to a steakhouse.
,br>
Dean Maurice Holland states, The LDS Church now concedes that Smith used the King James Bible as one of his primary sources when it came to extended quotes from the Bible. The long passages quoted from Isaiah as well as from Malachi and other books of the Bible have forced them to this admission. This causes a problem, because the official position of the Church for many years was that the Urim and Thummim which accompanied the golden plates was the exclusive means of translation and that every word of the Book of Mormon was divinely translated.

The Mormon Church also loses credibility due to its well-established record of sexual abuse among their congregation. Part of it is due to the approval of polygamy and members taking on under age wives. In other cases, females have sued church elders for damages related to childhood molestation. The Utah Supreme Court ruled that churches did not have to alert its congregations about the presence of known sexual predators. The court ruled that "Tilson was not a [church] employee, agent, or clergy member. Although [the church] conferred upon Tilson the positions of high priest and Scout leader, the sexual abuse suffered by plaintiffs occurred in Tilson's house and was unrelated to [the church] or any of its activities."

The case stemmed from a lawsuit alleging that Mormon authorities knew that church member George K. Tilson had abused a mother and her son. The mother was assaulted as a teen, and her son at age 5. The church also was aware that Tilson had attacked at least ten other children. Moreover, church leaders knew about it and also withheld knowledge of previous molestations by Tilson. The church has settled several similar cases.

Whats tragic is that Afrikans and blacks in America are being exposed to this gobbledy gook.

Did You Know Weather Can Affect Your Weight?
by minette prada - Tuesday, 27 May 2008, 04:14 PM
Anyone in the world
By Kim Snyder Did you know that there is a difference in weight between LA and New York? If you are thin in New York good chances that you are thought of as fat in LA! It is only about maybe 10 lbs in difference. In New York every women you see has real curves, there is not as a size 2 in the bunch. Yet in LA, every one of those women from New York would start feeling fat within minutes of stepping foot off the airplane! One of the main factors is probably due to the weather. Yes! We are going to blame this on the weather! There is not a time of year, in LA that you cannot be comfortable wear a bathing suit. What that means is, there not a time in the year that exercising and dieting ever truly stops. Now get this juicy fact, the more clothes you take off in LA, the more looks you are going to get, but in New York, the more you have on in clothing, the more looks you're going to get. It is like a dress code that no one really knows about, but it turns out to be true fact. All because of the changing of seasons, you cover it up, curiosity starts happening in the minds of the men. Here is what you need to do to be notice in LA. You must be wearing, tight jeans, carrying this year's purse and, on your feet, this season's shoes. Turning that around and head for New York, its a dress that gets the looks. Why? It is because of their weather. What you wear can covers up a multitude of sins, meaning those extra few pounds that would make you invisible back in LA, makes you a hot mama in New York! Those who visit both sides of the coast feel it is healthier for all women to visit the coast opposite of where they may live now. It would open your eyes to the fact that not being a size 0 is not the end of the world. Think what a field trip would be like for teenage girls who feel they are either too fat or too thin? How about getting them visit the opposite coast line of where they live now? There would a change in attitude when they get to see that its better or worse depending on where they are from. Those in the middle of the West and East coast, well I don't know what it is like for them but be warned not to visit Miami anytime soon. There they don't wear anything but bikini tops and short shorts. It has been said that a very buff size 0 from LA felt fat, when she got off the plane in Miami. What this really means ladies, whereever you might live; it all boils down to this. Be happy with who you are, diet and exercise under a doctor's supervision, and don't worry about what other women size may be. Ask any man, they love us, no matter what size big or small we may be. Are Interest Rates Up, Up and Away?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Cindy_Morus]Cindy Morus Interest rates have been at their lowest levels in over 40 years. U.S. consumers have been able to purchase previously unaffordable homes, cars and other toys. Many have used cheap home equity loans to remodel, take vacations and pay off credit cards. Students have taken advantage of the rock-bottom student loan rates. But, interest rates look to be headed up. Recently, Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserve escalated the Fed funds rate from 1% to 1.25%. So, what does that mean to you and me? The increase in rates is important if you have variable (not fixed) loans. For example, if you have adjustable rate mortgage or home equity lines of credit, the interest rates will probably go up (as well as the payments) in the next few months. Each time the Fed increases the Fed funds rate, it will roll down onto your adjustable rate loans and your payments will go up. The speed of increase and the amount of the increase will depend on what index your loan is based on check with your lending institution for more information on that. If you have high credit card debt, the situation may be even more bleak because credit card rates remained high while other rates have been incredibly low. The Fed increases are a good excuse for your credit card company to hike your rates even higher. So, what can you do if youre looking at rates and payments going up, up and away? * Your payment increases may be fairly gradual. Depending on the economy, the Fed will continue to increase rates although they have signaled that the increases are likely to be very gradual. If the economic or political situation changes, they always have the ability to lower rates again. The Fed's rate-setting committee is scheduled to meet again Sept. 21, Nov. 10 and Dec. 14, and they may skip a rate increase at one of those meetings if inflation is subdued. * Check with your student loan lenders to see about consolidating and locking in rates. Good news: interest rates on savings are also likely to increase! So, if you have CDs coming due, check with different financial institutions before automatically rolling them over. If you have money stashed in savings accounts, the rates are probably starting to creep up. I highly recommend ING savings for the highest rates around (www.ingdirect.com). They also give great service, have no fees or hidden costs and are FDIC insured. You can also name your accounts at ING to make it easy to identify what youre saving for. * If youve been thinking about re-financing, there are still some good deals out there and theres no sense in procrastinating any longer. Contact me for some excellent resources for re-financing. * What if a new house isnt in your plans for a couple of years? When rates go up, it often cools off real estate prices and balances out the higher rates. Continue to save money in the highest interest short-term accounts you can find (no stocks or other long-term investments). Rates will probably not take huge leaps in the short term. * If you have an adjustable rate (home or home equity or car loans), you will see higher payments so call your lender to find out what the new payment is likely to be. Theyll probably put all kinds of disclaimers out about not really knowing, but try to get a worst case scenario and then start pretending you really do have that new payment. Put the extra into a special savings account so youll have a slush fund to cover if you run short one month. At the same time you are building up a cushion for the future, youll have a good idea of whether or not you can handle the new payment. If not, nows the time to start looking at other alternatives like cutting back, increasing income or even refinancing. Remember, if you refinance your existing term to a new 30 year term, youll have lower payments, but youll pay a lot more for your house because of the additional interest. * Call your credit card companies and see if they are willing to lower your rates (not all are). Look for good, permanent credit card interest rates that you can transfer higher rate balances to. For example, if most of your cards are 18% or higher, find a good 12% card or lower and transfer as much as you can to that. Playing the 0% credit card shuffle is a dangerous game and can hurt your credit score. * Reduce credit card debt now! Stop using your cards and pay more than the minimums. If you pay off one card, take that payment and put it on another card. If you receive a pay increase, put it on the cards. The sooner the cards are paid off, the more flexibility youll have! All in all, were quite likely to enjoy reasonable interest rates for some time to come. However, make preparations now and youll be able to handle whatever comes your way. The New Drug Recall Lawyers

By Richard Martin Given the monstrous size and profitability of drug companies, some plaintiff lawyers are considering focusing more of their practice on drug litigation. In fact, shortly after Merck's announcement of the Vioxx recall, some large plaintiff firms started aggressive media campaigns aimed at bringing in prescription drug injury victims. The media blitz has been non stop. Billboards, TV, web marketing, radio, and direct mail are just some of the marketing vehicles that attorneys have used to try and find new cases for them to work on. Many plaintiff law firms are no longer focusing on chasing run of the mill car accidents. Some of them have gone so far as to reposition themselves as drug recall lawyers, seeing that the future of their practice may be shaped by the initial outcome of these new pharmaceutical cases. When Merck chose to withdraw Vioxx, the CEO stated that a voluntary recall was the responsible course of action. Prior to pulling Vioxx from the market, Merck was spending $500 Million per year on advertising Vioxx. Vioxx is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID. However, Vioxx belongs to a new family of NSAIDs called COX-2 inhibitors. There are not many COX-2 inhibitors on the market in the US: Bextra and Celebrex may be the only other two. Both the number of potential Vioxx plaintiffs and award amounts of the lawsuits are projected to be extremely large. The investment bank S.G. Cowan recently estimated that eventually more than 600,000 plaintiffs could file suit in the Vioxx case. Furthermore, some investment banks think that plaintiffs may file for more than $10Billion in damages in years to come. Even the national TV networks have covered the Vioxx withdrawal. A November 2004 story on the Vioxx withdrawal appeared on CBS News' 60 Minutes. The CBS story implied that the US Justice Department is conducting an investigation and the Securities and Exchange Commission is looking into Merck's conduct. Given the media coverage of the Vioxx withdrawal and the number of people who were prescribed Vioxx, there may be many new Drug Recall Firms founded in years to come. How to Plan Your Marriage Proposal

By Charles Welf The time is right, you have the perfect ring, you get to the restaurant and it begins to rain. They dont have valet parking and you dont have an umbrella. You park the car and both of you make a mad dash to get into the front door just as it starts to downpour. Not a great start to what should be the most perfect night of HER life. The moral of this story is that you should leave NO detail left to chance when you are planning to propose. How well you plan your proposal and your attention to detail may make the difference between Ill think about it and a resounding YES! Im not going to go into a bunch of marriage proposal ideas, there are many sites on the internet full of ideas for you. What I will focus on are some key points to consider when planning how youre going to propose. The first thing you should consider when planning your proposal is how are you going to control the environment? When the time is right you want to be in full control of whats happening to insure the perfect moment. The last thing you want is to be half way through your proposal and the band starts playing and drowns you out, or to find out on a rainy night that the restaurant doesnt have valet parking. So once you decide how youre going to propose take the time to scope out the location and think about how youre going to control your environment. Secondly when planning your big moment you need to think about the ring logistics. The last thing you want is to be worried about were the ring is every moment but at the same time you want it to be safe. What ever you do, do not let that ring out of your sight. If you want to put it in a glass of champagne or something like that go to the bar with your waiter and bring the drinks back yourself. How bad would you feel if you gave up control of the ring and it didnt come back or worst yet something of inferior quality came back? Take the time to run through the sequence of events and how you will handle the ring during the whole event. That way you will not worry about the rings safety and your wont tip off your soon to be bride to whats about to happen. Lastly think about is space. Yep space. If youre somewhere that is tight on space you may have a problem. I can see it now, youre in a small romantic restaurant but the tables are a little close together. You decide the time is right and you squeeze between tables to get down on one knee, she gets excited and jumps up and her chair hits the table behind her spilling wine all over the people sitting there. I think that would put a bit of a downer on the whole moment. So take the extra time to make sure you have enough space not only for YOU to propose but for HER to react and you will have a great moment you both will remember forever Charles Welf is the author of the a site full of Romantic Ideas. Short Term Loans...are they right for you?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Matthew_Keegan]Matthew Keegan With less than a week before she was to receive her next paycheck, Roni was faced with a problem that millions of Americans experience at some point in their lives: bills that are due and not enough cash available to pay them. Faced with a dilemma of late fees and a lower credit rating, many consumers with no options left turn to credit card advances as a stop-gap resolution for their problems. Unfortunately, for many Americans, they either do not have a sufficient line of credit available to tap in emergencies situations like Roni's or their credit is maxed out. So, what do they do? Like so many consumers are learning they can turn to providers of short term loans like those found on the internet. Let's take a look at some of these options to see if they are right for you! Loan options vary amongst providers, but they typically permit borrowers to apply for a loan on one business day and receive funds deposited to their checking account the following business day upon approval of their application. Most lenders require that you have a checking account that has been open for a minimum of 90 days, that the borrower be at least 18 years of age, and that the borrower be employed or receiving a regular monthly check [pension, social security, etc.] Loans are short term with many being in the neighborhood of 7-14 days. As in the case of Roni, she could request a 7 day loan and pay her principle back with interest once her paycheck was deposited in her account. If for some reason she was unable to repay on time, she could request an extension which would result in higher interest charges. The reputable providers explicitly warn consumers to be disciplined by paying their loans back on time. In addition, quite a few will not let you take another loan out until several days after your previous loan was paid off; they recognize that it isn't in the consumer's best financial interest to be overly dependent on this particular loan system. Loan rates vary and some lenders will give you a lower rate if you pay your loan back early. Rates of $10-18 per $100. borrowed are the norm for the shortest term loans, but can rise significantly for longer terms. Consumers are advised to weigh their options carefully before making any loan commitment. So, what did Roni do? She applied to a short term lender and borrowed $500. for 7 days. She was charged $15 per $100. borrowed which meant that she paid her lender back $575. once her loan was due. Roni calculated that she avoided steep late fee penalties and a lowered credit rating by securing a short term loan. Her creditors were satisfied and her credit rating was left in good standing.
